The HCP participated in the World Nutrition Conference at the School of Public Health, University of Western Cape, Cape Town from 29 August to 3 September 2016:
- Jonathan Crush (BSIA) chaired the Symposium on “The Food and Nutrition System We Need”;
- Jane Battersby (ACC) presented on “Beyond Nutrition: Food as Social, Spatial and Economic Context in Cape Town”
- Caroline Skinner (UCT) presented on “The Informal Economy’s Role in Feeding Cities: A Missing Link in Policy Debates?”
- HCP and CUP organized a Policy Workshop on “Food Consumption and Food and Nutrition Security in Africa’s Hungry Cities” with presentations from Jonathan Crush (BSIA), Jane Battersby (ACC), Godfrey Tawodzera (University of Limpopo), Jacqueline Walubwa (University of Nairobi) and Serafim Adriano Alberto (Eduardo Mondlane University). The Workshop discussed a Call to Action on Africa’s Food and Nutrition Transition which is now open for public comment at Moving on Empty.
