Teresa Wanjiro Mbatia

Dr. Teresa Mbatia is a Lecturer in the Department of Geography, Population and Environmental Studies, University of Nairobi, Kenya. She holds a PhD in Human Geography from Université Bordeaux Montaigne, France, and Master of Arts (Planning) from University of Nairobi. She has research interests on public participation in planning and management of public open spaces and infrastructure. Through various publications and conferences, she contributes to discourses on just public spaces and right to the city. Her doctoral thesis focused on analyzing the social and political subtleties of citizen participation in the management and conservation of public greenspaces and implications on spatial (in)justice. She has participated, in various capacities, in a wide range of transdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary collaborative research projects with partners from local to international scales.
